چکیده

Mobile manipulation in service robotic applications requires the alignment of the end-effector with recognized objects of unknown pose. Image based visual servoing provides a means of model-free manipulation of objects solely relying on 2D image information. This contribution proposes a visual servoing scheme that utilizes the pixel coordinates, scale and orientation of the Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT). The control is based on dynamic weighted moments aggregated from a mutable set of redundant SIFT feature correspondences between the current and the reference view. The key idea of our approach is to weight the point features in a way that eliminates or at least minimizes the undesired couplings to establish a oneto-one correspondence between feature and camera motion. The scheme achieves a complete decoupling in 4DOF, additionally the visual features in 6DOF are largely decoupled except for some minor residual coupling between the horizontal translation and the two rotational degrees of freedom. The decoupling results in a visual control in which the convergence in image and task space along a particular degree of motion is not effected by the remaining feature errors. Several simulations in virtual reality and experiments on a robotic arm equipped with a monocular eye-in-hand camera demonstrate that the approach is robust, efficient and reliable for 4DOF as well as 6DOF positioning.

Design und Management komplexer technischer Prozesse und Systeme mit Methoden der Computational Intelligence Visual Servoing with Moments of SIFT Features

Robotic manipulation of daily-life objects is an essential requirement in service robotic applications. In that context image based visual servoing is a means to position the end-effector in order to manipulate objects of unknown pose. This contribution proposes a 6 DOF visual servoing scheme that relies on the pixel coordinates, scale and orientation of SIFT features. The control is based on g...

This paper presents a novel approach to large view visual servoing in the context of object manipulation. In many scenarios the features extracted in the reference pose are only perceivable across a limited region of the work space. The limited visibility of features necessitates the introduction of additional intermediate reference views of the object and requires path planning in view space. ...

[inria-00352037, v1] Image moments: Generic descriptors for decoupled image-based visual servo

Moments are generic and (usually) intuitive descriptors that can be computed from several kinds of objects defined either from closed contours (continuous object) or a set of points (discrete object). In this paper, we propose to use moments to design a decoupled image-based visual servo. The analytical form of the interaction matrix related to the moments computed for a discrete object is deri...

Image-based Visual Servoing Using Improved Image Moments in 6-DOF Robot Systems

This paper addresses the challenges of choosing proper image features for planar symmetric shape objects and designing visual servoing controller to enhance the tracking performance in imagebased visual servoing (IBVS). Six image moments are chosen as the image features and the analytical image interaction matrix related to the image features are derived. A controller is designed to efficiently...

Application of moment invariants to visual servoing

In this paper, we present how moment invariants can be used to design a decoupled 2D visual servoing scheme and to minimize the nonlinearity of the interaction matrix related to the selected visual features. Experimental results using a 6 dof eye-in-hand system to position a camera parallel to planar objects of complex shape are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method.
